AB 2017
Seeks to Make Muslim Eid al-Fitr & Eid al-Adha State Holidays in California!
Author: CA - Assemblymember Matt Haney (D)
(Principal coauthor: Senator Wahab)
February 17, 2026
SUMMARY AB 2017, as introduced, Haney. State holidays: Eid. Existing law designates specific days as holidays in this state. Existing law adopts state holidays as judicial holidays, with certain exceptions, including Admission Day and Columbus Day. Existing law designates holidays on which community colleges and public schools are authorized to close pursuant to a memorandum of understanding between the governing board and represented employees, including “Native American Day” on the 4th Friday in September. This bill would add “Eid al-Fitr” and “Eid al-Adha” to the list of state holidays. The bill would exclude “Eid al-Fitr” and “Eid al-Adha” from designation as judicial holidays. The bill would authorize community colleges and public schools to close on “Eid al-Fitr” and “Eid al-Adha,” as specified. Existing law, notwithstanding the requirement that each person between 6 and 18 years of age who is not otherwise exempted is subject to compulsory full-time education, requires a pupil to be excused from school for specified types of absences, including, among others, an absence for justifiable personal reasons including, but not limited to, observance of a holiday or ceremony of the pupil’s religion, if the pupil’s absence is requested in writing by the parent or guardian and approved by the principal or a designated representative, as specified. This bill would add an absence for purposes of observing “Eid al-Fitr” or “Eid al-Adha” to the list of required excused absences. To the extent the bill would impose additional duties on school officials, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program. Existing law entitles state employees, with specified exceptions, to be given time off with pay for specified holidays. Existing law, in addition, authorizes state employees to elect to use 8 hours of vacation, annual leave, compensating time off, or personal holiday credit corresponding with specified dates. This bill would, similarly, authorize state employees to elect to use 8 hours of vacation, annual leave, compensating time off, or personal holiday credit corresponding with “Eid al-Fitr” or “Eid al-Adha,” as specified. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to the statutory provisions noted above.

AB 1900
Seeks to Eliminate Private Healthcare in California!
Author - Assemblyman Ash Kalra (D) et. al
March 16, 2026
SUMMARY
If AB 1900 is passed, the Democratic Party leaders in California will replace private healthcare with government-controlled healthcare. This would result in people in California experiencing higher taxes, long waits, rationing, fewer available doctors, and less medical treatment.
TALKING POINTS
• Common sense tells us that when people do not have the proper access to necessary medical treatment, they are at risk of experiencing severe health problems. Lack of adequate medical treatment also leads to death.
• According to the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States of America, we are to promote the general welfare. The Declaration of Independence specifically states that we are all entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In other words, government-controlled healthcare goes directly against the principles that are outlined in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
• More than seven million people are currently on waiting lists for hospital treatment from Britain's National Health Services. If AB 1900 becomes law, California will have this same problem.
• The California government already struggles to run Medi-Cal. Therefore, we cannot trust this government to successfully manage a $500 billion takeover of our entire healthcare system.

AB 2164
Seeks to Prevent Kidnappers from Being Held Accountable for Their Actions!
Author - Assemblywoman Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, et. al
March 14, 2026
SUMMARY
If AB 2164 is passed, pro-abortion Democratic legislators will be able to ensure that people who kidnap minors from other states and bring them to California for abortions and sex-change procedures will not have to face legal accountability for their actions. Also, the governor of California would be allowed to "extradite" back to California anyone charged in another state for illegally pushing a California abortion or a California "sex change" upon a minor.
TALKING POINTS
• The Preamble of the Constitution specifically states that we are to ensure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Therefore, allowing kidnappers to abduct anyone without facing legal consequences is unconstitutional.
• The Declaration of Independence specifically states that we are all entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Obviously, kidnappers deny their victims these rights.
• Abortion causes physical, psychological, and emotional harm to women and girls. Women and girls have even died as the result of abortion procedures.
• Sex-change procedures harm both adults and minors. (They have been harmful to the human body ever since they were invented.) For instance, Elle Palmer, who began to receive cross-sex hormones from Planned Parenthood as a teenager, began to experience a plethora of very serious health problems 10 years later.

AB 767
Seeks to Protect Children from Violent Sexual Predators!
Author - Assemblyman Juan Alanis (R)
March 7, 2026
SUMMARY
If AB 767 is passed, sexually violent predators who are released from prison will be further restricted as to where they can live. Currently, sexually violent predators are not allowed to live within a quarter of a mile of a school if they have committed crimes against children. If AB 767 is passed, these sexual predators will also be forbidden to live near child daycare centers. AB 767 clarifies that all private schools include any school for children between the ages of six and eighteen years old that is officially registered with the state and publicly listed.
TALKING POINTS
• Child molestation and child trafficking are extremely serious problems in California and in this country.
• Child sexual abusers tend to spend their time near schools, daycares, and other places in which children are regularly seen so that they can find new victims.
• Children from the preschool age through the high school age have been victims of sexual abuse. Therefore, protecting all children of all ages is vitally important.
• The Preamble of the Constitution says we are to promote the general welfare and insure domestic tranquility. Protecting children of all ages from sexual predators is a majorly important way to achieve the goals that are outlined in the Preamble of the Constitution.
